2025 at Talbot House
Both Talbot House’s anniversary and the end of the year are approaching. Once again, we have been busy at Talbot House over the last two months. We went back in time with a Living History Weekend, organised a succesful Comedy night with Nigel Williams, and offer the opportunity to get your own Wipers Times! We have another packed progamme waiting for you the next two months.

The Wipers Times are back home!
The original print proofs have been acquired by Talbot House. Along with two ‘lost’ editions, we are planning to bring each issue to your trench/letter box on the actual date of publication. That, along with lots of new historic research and commentary, a brewery visit at Brouwerij Kazematten and of course Talbot House, makes for a sweet deal!

The Archives
Christmas is coming, a time of year we love here at Talbot House. Christmas was also celebrated here during the First World War, including in 1915, when the House had only just opened. Among others, the Queen’s Westminster Rifles celebrated an early Christmas here in 1915, until they were called to the front. Are you curious about their story? Be sure to read our blog.
Can’t get enough of Christmas? Then come in and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere in the House from 14 November onwards. From then on, you can discover even more Christmas stories here. Or join one of our daily free Christmas tours at 3 p.m. during the Christmas holiday.
The Very Old House
Work at Talbot House never stops. We recently renovated our garden path. We would like to thank the volunteers, handy man Mathieu and Xtraverde for their help.
Would you also like to lend a hand in the garden, welcome visitors with a cup of tea, or support Talbot House in another way as a volunteer? Please send an email to simon@talbothouse.be. After all, today’s guest is tomorrow’s host.
A Glimpse
The exhibition ‘Refusing to forget’ is coming to an end. From 24 January on, ‘1919’ will be on display in the Slessorium. Books are still available in the shop. Do you want this to be sent to the UK? Contact us on info@talbothouse.be
Award-winning author Aline Sax and photographer Jeremy Gordon-Smith join forces in ‘1919’, an exhibition capturing the first steps of the veterans and locals after the Great War. Featuring powerful photographs by Ivan Bawtree, Gordon-Smith’s great-great-uncle, and inspired by Sax’s new book ‘1919’, it offers a striking portrait of loss, hope and renewal.
